Week 2 of 2026: Congrats on the company IPO

One-liner

This Sunday was the department team building, Saturday was the company annual gala, and Friday was the IPO day.

Yeah, the whole weekend was taken.

Since this was the fourth week of writing the weekly report, the things I can really recall are probably the important ones.

What I did

  • Work

      • Fixed an internal system Excel template import issue. The interesting part was borrowing the NetBox template import approach and making the system easy to use during design.
      • The incident handoff system is still risky overall. I need to map out every logic step clearly.
    • This was the company annual gala week. Congrats on the IPO, and I hope the company keeps growing. Hope my boss is doing well, and the team too.

Night view of the World Reception Hall by the Huangpu River. Neon everywhere.

  • Tech

    • A bit embarrassing — I did not read any of the papers I planned. I will do it in week four.

    • Not really.

    • When designing systems, reference well-known open-source projects more.

  • Life

    • This was the first week after New Year, but technically the second week of 2026.

      Played badminton once on Friday.

    • <Social/family: one high-quality interaction> I was too involved in company work and lacked high-quality time with family.

    • This was the final week of Honor of Kings Season 40. On the last night I earned the top marksman title — my first time getting it. Worth celebrating. 🎉 IMG_2809

  • Thinking

    • The recurring question is how to understand the new era "kernel": the relationships between vLLM, LLMs, and AI models, and their relationships with the world and reality. I am hungry to learn.

    • The big boss (OI) keeps saying we should try long-term holding. OK, then I will try buying some company stock.

    • Exercise more.
